Internship Weekly Blog
A collection of weekly blogs documenting my internship journey
Week 1: Adjustment and First Impressions
It was an exciting and difficult first week of my internship at the Sorsogon Governor's Office. August 18 was my first day, so I was a little anxious and didn't know what to anticipate. I was tasked with manually entering some data into record books and recording documents from various offices and entering them into Excel sheets. I initially found the process difficult and had to become acquainted with the necessary format and specifics. I did, however, take care to pay close attention and ask questions when necessary. By the end of the week, I had already gained confidence in my ability to use Excel effectively and felt more at ease with my tasks.
Week 2: Getting the Flow
I began to adjust to the office setting as I started my second week. I started finishing tasks more quickly and became more organized when handling the document recording process. I also discovered how crucial accuracy is, particularly when encoding data, as a single error could have an impact on the entire record. My supervisors valued my reliability and punctuality. I got there early every morning and got ready for the day. I learned this week that efficiency depends on paying close attention to details.
Week 3: Improvement and Confidence
As my second week began, I started to get used to the office environment. When it came to managing the document recording process, I became more organized and began completing tasks faster. I also learned how important accuracy is, especially when encoding data, since a single mistake could affect the entire record. My dependability and punctuality were appreciated by my managers. Every morning, I arrived early and prepared for the day. This week, I discovered that efficiency requires meticulous attention to detail.
Week 4: Learning Teamwork
During the fourth week, I experienced more collaboration with other employees. There were times when I had to coordinate with staff from different departments to collect and verify records. This taught me how to communicate professionally and respectfully. I learned that teamwork and clear communication make tasks smoother. I also started developing a habit of double-checking my outputs before submission to ensure everything was correct. It was fulfilling to see that my contributions were being valued.
Week 5: Developing Efficiency
I improved my efficiency and organization this week. To keep track of which offices' documents I had already recorded, I made my own checklist system. This little change made it easier for me to avoid confusion and better manage my time. I was inspired to keep getting better by my mentor at work, who saw my initiative. I came to see that taking initiative has a significant impact. I arrived early each day and maintained my concentration until I completed the task at hand.
Week 6: Midpoint Reflection
I paused halfway through my OJT experience to consider how much I had changed. I had trouble adjusting at first, but I can now say that I am growing more capable and accountable. I can complete my assignments more quickly without sacrificing accuracy. Additionally, I've learned how to handle abrupt changes in my workload with composure. I learned this week that perseverance and consistency always result in progress.
Week 7: Broadening My Knowledge
I had the chance to watch how the office handles and preserves both physical and digital records this week. I gained knowledge about how organized storage and appropriate file naming facilitate simpler data retrieval. In order to automate some of the recording process, I also began investigating Excel formulas. I learned more and became more productive at work thanks to my curiosity. I'm pleased that I can now manage my everyday responsibilities with less supervision.
Week 8: Strengthening Work Habits
My work habits greatly improved as the weeks passed. I improved my time management and task prioritization skills. Before I left the office every day, I made sure to accurately complete all of my records. I also kept practicing being courteous, competent, and personable. Technical knowledge is not as important as these soft skills. I discovered that attitude is just as important as skill in the workplace.
Week 9: Facing Challenges
Because there were more documents to record this week, there were some challenges. Despite the pressure, I was able to remain calm and focused. I told myself that this was an opportunity to test my ability to handle the pressure of my workload. By applying what I had learned over the past few weeks, especially time management and accuracy, I was able to complete all of my assignments on time. My mentor appreciated my reliability and consistency.
Week 10: Enhancing Technical Skills
I concentrated on increasing my productivity with Microsoft Excel and keeping track of records during my tenth week. My tasks became easier and more methodical as I practiced accurately organizing and updating data using basic Excel functions. In order to improve my leadership, teamwork, and communication abilities, I also helped my fellow interns when they had trouble recording data.
Week 11: Preparation for Completion
I kept trying my hardest every day as my OJT experience came to an end. I wanted to make sure that my presence in the office was positive. I went over all of my recorded documents to make sure they were tidy and well-organized. I also expressed my gratitude to my coworkers and mentors for helping me during my internship. This week was devoted to introspection and thankfulness.
Week 12: Completion and Gratitude
Last week at the Sorsogon Governor's Office was both emotional and fulfilling. I became aware of how much I had learned about professionalism, discipline, communication, and technical skills. Even though I struggled on my first day, my OJT experience helped shape who I am today. I am thankful to The Lewis College for the opportunity and to everyone in the Governor's Office who helped me grow. This experience will serve as a continual reminder that learning never stops and that daily presence and consistency are the keys to success.Last week at the Sorsogon Governor's Office was both emotional and fulfilling.
